PROJECT OVERVIEW |
Historitecture researched and wrote an historical context for the City of Fort Collins to address the community's ghost signs, the faded advertisements of yesteryear painted on brick walls. This context was intended to determine the significance of the city’s extant painted wall signs and provide suggestions for the preservation and interpretation of these historic advertisements. In so doing, the document traces the development of the painted wall sign medium in the United States generally and Fort Collins specifically. It also provides biographies of some of the city’s notable signpainters and a brief survey of existing signs.
